Bengaluru: Even after two-months, since the state government sought a probe by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the single-digit lottery scam, they are yet to receive a notification from the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), according to sources.

Reportedly, the CBI confirmed stating that they haven’t received any notification in this regard from the DoPT so far. “Normally, when a CBI inquiry is sought, the state sends a request to the DoPT, which then transfers it to the CBI. If the probe is feasible, we take it up”, said an official speaking to a daily.

Earlier, the single-digit lottery scam came into light after the arrest of Pari Rajan, associated with the scam. The government also suspended IG rank officer Alok Kumar after the scam broke out on charges that on an earlier occasion, he tried to prevent Rajan’s arrest. Another senior police official, Dharanesh, was also suspended.

Following this, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah handed the investigation of the scam over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on May 9. On May 26, following pressure from various quarters, the CM sought a CBI probe.
