Bangalore: Lokayukta Judge Bhaskar Rao instructed heads of all state-run hospitals in order to form cells, to take actions on those who abuse the patients, at the backdrop of government hospitals across the state are plagued with corruption. 
“Such cells are essential to actions on those hospital staff who seek bribe from the patients at the state-run hospitals. They will be entrusted the task of returning the money collected from the patients and also to take recover the money from those who have taken the bribes,” said Bhaskar Rao.
“The discussions are held with senior officers along with state health minister U T Khader,” said Bhaskar Rao. The healthcare facilities should be available to the people without bribing the hospital staff. The majority of doctors shun the bribes, while the paramedical staff is the ones who harass the patients with demands of bribes, added Bhaskar Rao.
It is the right of patient to get medical treatments, similarly it is the duty of doctors to administer treatment. It is significant that state health department tops in corruption, regretted Bhaskar.
The state health minister U T Khader urged the health authorities in eradicating corruption. The corrupt have no place in the department. The time has come to reform health department, said minister Khader. He also sought the help of health authorities in resolving the issue.
