Bangalore : It may no longer be considered safe for lone women to visit ATMs sans security guards. In a shocking case reported from Bangalore on Tuesday morning a 44 year old woman, a manager at Corporation Bank was brutally attacked by a stranger when she entered the ATM on the busy JC Road in the capital at around 7.30 am.
The ATM Kiosk had no security guard and the man who entered the ATM behind the woman, pulled down the shutter and attacked her with a machete. The woman who suffered a fracture in her skull has undergone a brain surgery on Tuesday night and she is likely to have a plastic surgery for the injuries on her face.
The incident has been captured on the CCTV camera inside the ATM. The footage shows the man threatening the woman with a revolver and then attacking her with a machete. When the woman tries to resist he pushes her against the wall.
Though the woman cried for help no one came though the ATM was located close by a police station. The man later left with her purse having some credit cards and mobile phones. However, the jewellery which the woman was wearing was untouched, said joint commissioner of Police Kamal Panth.
Investigations are underway.
