Bengaluru: The Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) has earned its highest profit yet — Rs. 457 lakh — in 2016-17, which is said to be the highest in its 47-year history.
A release said the occupancy level in all KSTDC hotels was up from around 30% to 43%, resulting in higher income.
The corporation has 19 hotels, and recently added new properties at Nandi Hills and at Bharachukki falls in Kollegal taluk. KSTDC packages are also doing well, with a 20% increase in revenue from the transport section in 2017-18. Recently, there was relief on The Golden Chariot front too, with the revenue sharing model being extended to the luxury train between the Indian Railways and KSTDC, the release added.
