Bengaluru: The Karnataka Forum to Save the Constitution (KFSC), led by centenarian freedom fighter H.S. Doreswamy, met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday and appealed to him not to break bridges with the JD(S) in the larger interests of society.
The forum, which was formed to defeat fundamentalist and anti-constitutional forces in the Assembly elections, had earlier met JD(S) national president H.D. Deve Gowda and appealed to him to have an understanding in at least the constituencies where there is a possibility of the BJP getting benefited because of the regional party’s fight with the Congress.
KFSC leader K.L. Ashok claimed that Siddaramaiah responded positively. KFSC honorary president A.K. Subbaiah had also convinced Siddaramaiah that they would meet Mr. Gowda again and talk to him on having an understanding with the Congress. Mr. Ashok said they had appealed to Gowda against “repeating the historic mistakes committed in 2006”, when the BJP and the JD(S) formed a coalition government.
