Bangalore :HDK was seen in tears yesterday at the freedom park, along with the protesting Karnataka prospective civil servants of the 2011 batch, the validity of which has been annulled by the state cabinet. He expressed support for them and joined in the indefinite hunger strike called by the 362 probationers who had been declared selected in the scam tainted 2011 KPSC exam.
HDK, met with the protesting probationers and sounded an ultimatum to the state government to reverse the cabinet decision by Friday, but with the Chief minister Siddaramaiah reiterating that there will be no rollback on the decision, he joined the protesters.
“Had the CM interacted with these protesting candidates for an hour, he would not have taken this decision,” said Kumaraswamy, who was seen in tears, much like the probationers, . “Several of them come from poor backgrounds and qualified (for the interview) after toiling day and night. But the government has left them in lurch.”
The lid was blow of the scam by the Dr. HPS Mythri, a whistleblower. HDK had a lot of uncomplimentary remarks for her too. “She need not have to worry about her future as she is a daughter of an assistant commissioner. What about these students? They have sacrificed everything to prepare for the exam. Just to protect a few, government must not spoil the lives of 362 candidates. ” he said.
Siddaramaiah said opposition parties are needlessly politicizing the issue. “The CID has submitted its report confirming the scam,” the CM said. “Do you think the CID is wrong? If they (opposition) argue that government has done injustice to 362 candidates what about 700 other candidates who attended the interview? Are we not doing them an injustice? At a time when we are fighting corruption, is not disregarding the CID report a paradox? Government has taken the decision after consulting legal and other experts. “
For the time being at least, it appears that these probationers will have to reanswer the exam for which arrangements are underway with the appropriate relaxations, and hope for the best.
