Bengaluru: In a big boost to the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF), the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam board (TTD) has placed orders for 14 lakh kilograms of Nandini Ghee. This ghee will be used to prepare the famous Tirupati Laddu, the main prasadam of the temple.

According to the sources in the KMF, the order has been placed by the TTD authorities on Tuesday. “Since last 20 years and more, KMF Nandini ghee is being used in the preparation of the Laddu. This year also the TTD placed the order,” informed authorities.

The temple had stopped the order to the KMF in 2015 and awarded the ghee contract to a Maharashtra-based dairy which quoted lesser price for the order. Sources say that the KMF had, in 2015, quoted Rs 324 per tin of ghee, while the Maharashtra-based dairy had quoted Rs 276 per tin of the ghee.

However, the longstanding relationship between the TTD and the KMF has been restored again.
