Bengaluru: Even though the budget session of the state assembly is fixed till February 15, the state government is likely to inform Speaker K R Ramesh Kumar to postpone the session for an indefinite period, on Wednesday itself. A decision in this regard has been taken in an informal meeting of JDS and Congress leaders held, on Tuesday late night.

According to the sources, the leaders suspect that if the session continued for a longer period, the BJP may use it to bring down the government. “So it has been decided to cut short the session,” said sources.

“Four rebel Congress leaders are expected to resign in a day or two. So the coalition leaders don’t want to take any chances,” said a senior minister.

On the other hand, the BJP too has issued a whip to all 104 MLAs to be present in the Assembly on Wednesday to make sure that the government does not easily approve for the budget.
