Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on Tuesday that the State government would be releasing one TMC feet of water from Narayanpur dam to Telangana.

Speaking to mediapersons, Siddaramaiah said that in a meeting with Telangana Congress Committee president N Uttamkumar Reddy and Telangana CLP leader K Jana Reddy had requested him to release at least three TMC feet water to meet their state’s drinking water requirements, but he agreed to release one TMC feet as a contingency measure.

The Telangana leaders said that they were happy with Siddaramaiah’s decision.

“We are also aware of the fact Karnataka is facing acute shortage of water due to a drought in the state. At this juncture, Telangana too is worst affected by drought. Therefore, we came here to discuss and appraise Siddaramaiah about the situation in our state,” they said.

The leaders also disclosed the fact that in order to solve problems being faced by local residents in Telangana, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had agreed to take measures to solve Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme (RDS) and speed up the related work.
