Karnataka stands third in tiger death

Bengaluru/New Delhi: Karnataka is in the third position in tiger death cases in the year 2017 with loss of 15 tigers.

As per report by the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA), 25 tigers died in Madhya Pradesh and 17 tigers died in Maharashtra and they were respectively in first and second places. In total, 95 tigers died in one year. Statistics show that 15, 8 and 7 tigers died due to various reasons in Uttarakhand, Assam and Uttar Pradesh.

The shocking outcome of the report is that 30 tigers died in 2016 and 97 tigers died across the country in 2017. The reasons vary from territorial fights, mishap and poaching.

Though Madhya Pradesh had the most number of tigers, increasing number of deaths in MP has brought Karnataka the fame of having the most number of tigers.

According to a survey conducted in 2015, Madhya Pradesh had 257 tigers,which has now come down to 208.

Since January 2016, Madhya Pradesh has lost 55 tigers.and taking note of this, the government has started a special task force to stop crimes against the wildlife.
