Bengaluru: The State government would be introducing the Karnataka on Demand Transportation Technology/Aggregators Rules 2016 on June 20.

The High Court heard a petition on Wednesday challenging the new rules enforced by the State government for the safety of passengers who use taxi services through On-Demand Transport Technology platforms.
The court adjourned the matter to June 20 after the State government assured that the rules will not be enforced until June 20. The court also made clear that the authorities can take action against taxi aggregators if they are found violating the rules.
Taxi aggregators had been opposing the decision to bring them under the section citing that they were not the owners of the cabs and hence couldn’t be held accountable for any incidents involving the vehicles.
