Bengaluru: Karachi Bakery and Café on 100 feet road, Indiranagar, which commenced operations 1953 and today is a famous hangout spot of the city was forced to go undercover on Friday night.

In the wake of the Pulwama incident, in which 40 paramilitary personnel were martyred, when a suicide bomber allegedly backed by terror groups operating from Pakistan, rammed into their convoy on Valentines day, a group of youth, agitated over the name “Karachi” on its signboard, forced the owner to have it covered.

Late in the evening on Friday, a group of youths started a flash protest urging the owner to remove the word Karachi. Their argument was that following the Pulwama massacre, this word should be removed as a retaliation. They informed the owner that they are not against the business. “But our only concern is the word Karachi,’ they said.

Even though the shop owner tried to convince the agitators, they didn’t listen. Finally, the bakery owner covered the signboard.

Indiranagar police who rushed to the spot said that no FIR has been registered. “We can register a complaint only if the owner submits a complaint,” they informed.
