Bangalore: A 29-year-old scribe allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling at his residence in Sanjay Nagar on Friday night.
Police identified the deceased as Sanjay Ladhimath, working as copy editor with a media house in the city for the past few years. He was recently married and living his wife at a rented apartment.
According to police, Sanjay had gone to visit his native in Badami and had returned on Friday night. On seeing Sanjay, his neighbour, Shanthi offered dinner which he refused and went to sleep. The incident came to light on Saturday morning when the deceased’s wife tried to get in touch with him but her calls went unanswered. She then asked Shanthi to check on Sanjay but despite repeated efforts Sanjay didn’t open the door. Realising that something was wrong, Shanthi raised an alarm and called her relatives to check on Sanjay. Meanwhile the police who was alerted rushed to the spot and broke-open the door and found the deceased hanging from the ceiling. The police didn’t find suicide note at the spot.
“Police have taken up the case of suicide and are questioning Sanjay’s office colleagues and relatives. According to office staff, Sanjay was happy and content in life and there was no reason for him to take such an extreme step. However, the probe is underway and we are yet to ascertain the reason behind Sanjay taking such an extreme step,” said an investigating officer.
