Bengaluru: Nearly three days after Omar Abdullah invited the ire of netizens for his tweet comparing H D Deve Gowda to Pervez Musharraf, the JD(S) on Sunday decided to let go off the issue.

JD(S) National General?Secretary Danish Ali on Sunday said that people will decide on the caliber of those who make caustic remarks against former prime minister H D Deve Gowda.

“Abdullah is educated is London. He can use his knowledge to ridicule. Our leader is from a rural background, we cannot hit back. So we have decided to let it go,”Ali said sarcastically.

Earlier on Thursday, Abdullah in an attempt to express his thoughts about how ‘irrelevant’ it was to talk to Musharraf about Kulbhushan Jadhav issue, said that it was ‘akin to Pakistani channels discussing developments in India with Gowda’.

The comments clearly did not go down well with many and Abdullah was massively trolled for his remarks. Political rivalry apart, state BJP leaders too criticised Abdullah for his remarks.

Ali pointed out that it was during Gowda’s tenure as prime minister that Gowda brought back Abdullah and his father Farooq back to India and installed the senior Abdullah as the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir.

Abdullah was recently also trolled for his double standards recently after he posted a video of a youth being tied to an army jeep to avoid the stone pelting crowd while he had maintained utter silence over videos of armyman being slapped and kicked by Kashmiri youth during the bypolls in the area.
