Bengaluru: The eighth edition of Bengaluru International Film Festival (BIFFes) was inaugurated by senior actor Jaya Bachchan on January 28 amidst a galaxy of stars from the world of cinema.Speaking on the occasion Jaya said that political class must encourage cinema, but not interfere in its creative pursuits.
“Creative people should have the freedom to think and act. Interference results in sub-standard work. I am sure your government will not do that. I will persuade the Mumbai film industry to use the facilities in Karnataka”, she said.
Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy Chairperson S.V. Rajendra Singh Babu, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, shared the dais with her.
Kannada filmstar Shivarajkumar, Sanjay Leela Bhansali of Bajirao Mastani fame, Telugu star Venkatesh and Hollywood producer Ashok Amritraj, were among those in attendance at the colourful event.
