Jamakhandi, Ramanagar bypolls: Cong-JDS to continue coalition

Bengaluru: The coalition partners- JDS and the Congress are expected to continue their alliance in the upcoming by-election to the two seats of the state assembly.

A formal announcement in this regard is expected any time soon.

According to the sources, the Election Commission of India is likely to announce by-election date for Jamakhandi and Ramanagar assembly constituencies by next week. In both, the constituencies coalition partners are expected to continue their alliance.

The Congress is likely to extend support to the JDS in Ramanagar, which is planning to field none other than Anitha Kumaraswamy, wife of CM HD Kumaraswamy.

By election is necessitated to this constituency after CM HDK resigned from the post of MLA. He was elected from Ramanagar and Channapatna constituencies. He retained Channapatna.

By-election is necessitated to the Jamakhandi constituency following incumbent MLA Siddu Nyamagowda’s death in an SUV accident. The Congress is fielding his son Anand Nyama Gowda and the JDS is expected to support him.
