Bengaluru: In a twist to the IT raid on an auto driver’s residence in the Whitefield area of the city, an American woman by name Lara Evison (72), who was working in the city for a brief period, claimed that she had paid the money to buy the villa. She also produced the relevant documents before the IT officers.

It can be recalled that on May 2, IT officials had raided the Jatti Dwarakamayi Villa on Whitefield road of the city, owned by an auto driver by the name Subramani. He had bought the house by paying cash up front, which led to speculations.

Lara Evison informed the police that when she was in Whitefield, Subramani ferried her to her workplace. She said that the Subramani family is very close to her and that she stays at their house whenever she visits India. She even produced documents to prove that she was the one who loaned them the money to buy the house.

Meanwhile, Subramani has alleged that he was targetted due to a personal grudge of the villa builder.
