Bengaluru: The Income Tax Department began simultaneous search and seizure operations against two Bengaluru-based jeweller groups on Thursday morning.
According to the sources, the search operations were conducted on 35 premises and surveys on 14 premises across Bengaluru, Mysuru, and Mumbai. The sources said the searches are yet to conclude and that it may take another day or two.
Action on one firm in Bengaluru involved search operations on 22 premises, most of their branches in the city and residences of the family members that own the chain.
The sources said 10 surveys are being conducted on premises of people with business links with the group.
In the second case, searches are on at 13 premisesspread across Mysuru, Bengaluru, and Mumbai, apart from surveys on four premises.
The searches were conducted in connection with a new case pertaining to suspected tax evasion, the sources said.
