Bengaluru: Former Supreme Court judge and Karnataka Lokayukta Justice N Santosh Hegde stated that keeping one religion out of an Act is not proper.

“It is not a good idea,” said Hegde in Mysuru.

“It is an Act brought in on the grounds of humanity. There is a provision in our constitution to allow people who migrate from their motherland to our country to stay here. You can’t keep a caste or religion out of the purview of an Act. All must be treated equally in the eyes of an Act,” he said.

He also expressed doubt against Disha act cleared by Andhra where punishment is proposed for a sexual assault accused within 21 days. “Do you think it is realistic,” he questioned.
