Bengaluru: In a brutal incident involving African students, two from Congo allegedly assaulted the son of their house owner, who had asked them to vacate the house after they created a ruckus in a drunken state.

Police said that the students beat up the house owner’s son Karthik. He has suffered fractures on his face and is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Banaswadi.

The two Congolese students studying at a private college had rented a two-bedroom house at Kulappa Circle in Kammanahalli. They had not paid the full advance nor submitted the necessary documents to prepare an agreement.

Though the house was rented for only two students, most of the time there would be five to six students. House owner Anand told the police that since the students were causing nuisance, he asked them to vacate the house and also locked the rear gate.

On Wednesday night, the students had sneaked into the house. Karthik who came to know that went and questiond them. But he was punched twice in the face by the students who later tried to escape by a car. They abandoned the car when they were surrounded by neighbours. The mob vandalized the car and only left after the police intervened.

The Banaswadi police told that the Congolese student, who assaulted Karthik, was overstaying in the city as his visa had expired. They have registered a case against the foreign students.
