Bengaluru: The information furnished by CM HD Kumaraswamy and other MLAs for the period between June 30, 2013 and June 30, 2018 about the treatment they underwent at private hospitals has raised serious questions about their health condition.
According to the data, in this period the people’s representatives furnished documents seeking reimbursement of Rs. 16.74 crores as the medical expenses. CM HD Kumaraswamy has claimed Rs.11.23 lakhs while former minister Qamarul Islam had claimed Rs.23 lakhs which has been paid to his wife.
Other major beneficiaries of this reimbursement scheme include YSV Datta (Rs.17.1 lakhs), BY Raghavendra (Rs.3.53 lakhs), Chikkamadu (Rs.32.23 lakhs), HS Prakash (Rs.20 lakhs), Gopalaiah (Rs.14.42 lakhs) and CP Yogeshwar (Rs.8.61 lakhs). Lowest reimbursement claims are submitted by P Rajeev (Rs. 2,579), K G Bopaiah (Rs.2,678), U B Banakar (Rs.2,867), and Thippeswamy Rs. 3,172.
Interestingly, all the MLAs have received treatment at the private hospitals making the establishments richer by several crores.
