Hope Farm underpass: Minister George blasts BBMP Chief Engineer

Bengaluru: Minister for Bengaluru Development K.J. George on Tuesday took Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Chief Engineer Prahlad to task for the delay in commencing the construction of an underpass near Hope Farm.

Minister George was inspecting the developmental works taken by the BBMP at various places in Bengaluru east suburb. The minister lost his cool after coming to know about the delay in commencing the construction of the underpass for which administrative approval was given long ago.

The minister instructed the BBMP Chief Engineer to start the work without any delay. He began the inspection of developmental works with Wind Tunnel Road where signal-free corridor work was progressing at a snail’s pace. The minister instructed BBMP Commissioner Manjunath Prasad to expedite the work that was taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 135.20 crore.
After inspecting the progress of developmental works at Kundanahalli, the minister advised the BBMP engineers to speed up the works.

Some residents Tubarahalli appealed the minister to instruct the BBMP authorities to asphalt the road near VIBGYOR School. However, the BBMP engineers informed the minister about the court case on the ownership of the road.

The minister directed the BBMP officials to take measures fix the legal issues and asphalt the road for the benefit of the residents. The minister’s inspection was culminated at Suranjan Das Road Junction after inspecting the work at the Big Bazar Junction on Old Madras Road. Two signal-free corridors are coming up at these places at an estimated cost of Rs 275 crore.
