Bengaluru: Union Minister for Statistics and Programme Implementation, D V Sadananda Gowda on Saturday lashed out at Karnataka Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara for blaming RSS for Cauvery riots in Bengaluru city.
Reacting to Home Minister’s statement on alleged involvement of RSS activists in the recent Cauvery riots, Minister Sadananda Gowda opined that the Home Minister should not make such childish statements. “I am of the opinion that the Home Minister should have thought twice before making such irresponsible statements. He is trying to cover up the government’s failure in handling the situation on the eve of bandh against releasing Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. Now the Home Minister is blaming RSS for the riots in the city,” Minister Sadananda Gowda said.

It may be recalled that Home Minister Parameshwara had told reporters recently that one of the Congress workers has alleged that RSS was behind the riots and violence and requested the government to probe the matter. He said that Congress workers have overheard many rumours that RSS played a major role in triggering the riots. He had said that the government would verify the matter. Even senior Congress leaders V S Ugrappa and H M Revanna also said that they believe that the BJP leaders’ statements had provoked the people to indulge in violence.

Earlier, Union Minister Sadananda Gowda, Hebbal MLA Narayanaswamy and BJP workers cleaned the weeds and garbage at Gangenahalli burial ground on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.
