Bengaluru: The High Court has questioned the State government’s move of forming Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) when Lokayukta was very much in existence.

It’s noticed that with the Lokayukta in a suspended state and ACB in its formation stage, corruption in the state is on the rise. The court has expressed its displeasure over the present situation.
The court was hearing the plea of by Dr V.L. Nandish, a professor in Mandya Medical College, seeking to quash the proceedings against him by the Lokayukta on the grounds of delay in probing the case against him. Justice A.N. Venugopala Gowda further observed that if the situation continues, public will teach a lesson in an appropriate time.
On the other hand, the state government has submitted its report on the formation of ACB and has told the court that it’s determined to fight against corruption.
The court questioned that why the state government didn’t take the opposition and others into confidence before setting up ACB.
The court was unhappy with the cases of corruption against IAS officers still under the process of persecution. It directed the state to submit the files of corrupt officers to the court and to complete the procedure of sanctioning the prosecution.
The court observed that there were no holidays as such for corruption and if not controlled, the situation will turn overnight into tsunami.
