Bengaluru: The much anticipated “Heli-Taxi Service” (helicopter shuttle service) service between Electronic City and Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) would begin within a week.
The service provider Thumbi Aviation Private Limited Company has already developed a mobile app for the purpose of advanced booking of seats. It will be available to the users within a week.
The Heli-taxi would considerably reduce the time taken to travel from east and south of the city to the airport. While now it takes almost two and half hours to travel from Electronic City to the airport, with the Heli-taxi services it would require only 15 minutes to reach the airport.
“We chose the ground helipad at the premises of IIIT. This place is very near to the bus stand and in future, it will be nearer to the Metro station. In future, we have an intention to launch service from HAL and Whitefield too”, the company sources said.
“Heli-taxi is very helpful to businessmen, corporate passengers and also for the people in need of emergency medical aid. Our intention is to provide service at a reasonable expense”, they added.
Bell 412 helicopters with seating capacity of 13 passengers and Bell 405 choppers with 5 passenger capacity will be deployed for the heli-taxi service.
