Bengaluru: Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy flagged off the ‘Pink Sarathi’ jeeps launched by the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), on Thursday, June 6. The BMTC has launched the ‘Pink Sarathi’ jeeps under the Nirbhaya scheme to ensure safe and secure journey for women commuters.

The government has sanctioned Rs 56.7 Crores for the project. The BMTC has purchased 25 Mahindra Bolero vehicles, all of which are equipped with GPS and public announcement facilities.

The chief minister also distributed smart card student passes to the primary school students who come under SC and ST category, on the occasion.

Transport Minister D C Thammanna, State Minister Puttarangashetty, Chairman of BMTC N A Haris, Managing Director N V Prasad and Director Anupam were present.
