Bengaluru: The Economic Crime Unit of the Criminal Investigation Division has filed an FIR against 15 people including a builder on charges of fraud. Reportedly, Malleshwaram resident N D Ravi and 15 others have been charged for taking a loan of Rs 9.39 Crores from the State Bank of India (SBI) by producing false documents.
According to a complaint filed by SBI Assistant Manager S G Manjunath, N D Ravi, on January 17, 2013, had approached the Retail Asset Credit Processing Centre in Lalbagh, with some landowners, claiming that they were building 132 apartments at Seegehalli, 7th block in Whitefield. Ravi who was a customer of SBI introduced the landowners to the bank and helped them open their accounts. He also applied for housing loan submitting false documents. Ravi had applied for loan for a project named Garden Residency, but it later came to light that the documents he produced were not of the mentioned project.
The bank authorities realised Ravi’s fraud on August 3, 2018. It is also revealed now that the 15 associates Ravi had introduced to the bank had given fake addresses and two of them have availed car loans from the bank.
Ravi is currently out on a conditional bail.
