Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court has cancelled the appointment of KR Venugopal as the Vice-Chancellor of the Bangalore University. 

Sangamesha A Patil, a professor of Karnataka University, Dharwad had moved the High Court against Governor’s decision to appoint Venugopal as the VC. His contention is that Venugopal was not appointed by the Governor as per the rule.

According to the state universities act, the Governor shall appoint the VC in concurrence with the state government. Patil alleged that this was not followed while Venugopal was selected.
Venugopal was appointed as the VC of the university on June 12, 2018.
