Govt planning to hike Home Guards’ duty allowance

Bangalore: State Home Minister KJ George has informed the Legislative Council that the government would contemplate a hike in the allowance provided to Home Guards.

Participating in a debate  during the tabling of the Karnataka Home Guards Amendment Act, he said presently Home Guards in Bangalore get an allowance of Rs 300 while in other places it is Rs 250. The demand for an increase in allowance would be discussed with the Chief Minister and included in the next budget, he assured.

A total of 25000 Home Guards have been trained in the state.They discharge their duties with a service bent of mind and not from the point of view of making money, he said. However, the government will certainly think of recognising their services by increasing their allowance, he assured.
