Bengaluru: Governor Vajubhai Vala signed the controversial APMC amendment ordinance making way for the privatisation of the agriculture market.
It can be recalled that last week the Governor returned the ordinance citing that the state government didn’t follow the norms while sending the ordinance proposal.
Later, the ordinance was approved at the state cabinet on Thursday and sent for Governor’s approval, following which he signed the ordinance on Saturday evening.
The state government issued this ordinance as per the directions of the union agriculture ministry.
It can be recalled that opposition parties including Raitha Sangha are opposing this farm reform, which will allow the farmers to sell the farm products directly to the private vendors/ companies.
All these years, farmers are forced to sell their products only through the APMCs .
The new act also allows the free flow of the farm products across the country. A farmer can sell his product in any part of the country.
