Chamarajanagar: An one-and-half-month-old child died in Chamarajanagar district hospital and the death had sparked suspicion among the parents who have claimed that administration of wrong medication had caused the death.
Mahesh and Mamatha, residents of Hebbasur in Chamarajanagar had taken their little child aged 1 ½ months to Chamarajanagar to district hospital on November 21. They said that as soon as the doctors injected medicine to the child, the baby started bleeding. When the parents panicked, the doctors convinced them that it was normal and then wrapped the injected area with a wet clothe. They were sent back home assuring that the bleeding would stop.
When the bleeding did not stop, worried parents rushed to nearby Alur primary health care centre. They were asked to again visit Chamarajanagar district hospital, who in turn referred the case to K R hospital in Mysuru. Little infant failed to respond to the treatment at K R hospital and eventually succumbed.
Parents complained to the district superintendent of police and requested him to initiate action against the staff. In the meantime, district surgeon has formed a committee to investigate the incident and assured of suitable action.
