Dharwad: The High Court Bench, Dharwad, divisional bench has issued contempt of court notice to Hubballi-based Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) Director D D Bant, asking him to be personally present before the court on Monday (November 28) to give the explanation on regularization of service of KIMS staff.
In December last, the KIMS management had decided to regularise the service of 15 tutors and senior residents. Service of three tutors, who had their names in the list, was not regularised. Hence Dr Pama Adnur, Dr Seemeen Ilkal, and Dr Sarojini Dhavalagi had filed a writ petition before the High Court seeking the justice.
Then the court had directed KIMS to regularise their services and to give them their due benefits. An appeal questioning this order by KIMS was also dismissed. As the court direction was not followed, the petitioners had filed a contempt of court application.
Hearing the petition, the division bench comprising Justice Ravi Malimath and Justice K Somashekhar issued the notice, and asked Dr Bant to be present on Monday.
Advocate Ramachandra Mali argued in favour of the petitioners.
