Bangalore: Materials inside a furniture selling shop at 8th cross Gandhinagar near Ambedkar hospital, KG Halli, East Bangalore were gutted in an accidental fire on Wednesday morning July 9.

Six fire tenders were pressed into service and police confirmed that there were no casualties in the incident. However the raw material and finished goods worth lakhs gutted, around 10 employees working in the unit escaped to safety.

But there was no police complaint made and efforts by jurisdictional police to approach the shop owner went futile as the employees and other concerned persons fled the scene soon after the fire broke out around 7.30 am.

According to KG Halli police, passersby informed them on the incident and they alerted the fire department.

The fire and emergency services personnel also evacuated the residents living in the adjacent houses as thick smoke had elgulfed the area creating panic situation.
