Bengaluru: Radam Rachana, a third year BDS student at Krishnadevaraya College Of Dental Science and Hospital (KCDSH) was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia M1 Stage in August 2014. She underwent treatment at the Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) Ltd , Secunderabad , Andhra Pradesh. But during one of her routine checkups in May 2015 it was found that her cancer had relapsed. Her treatment is long, arduous and costly and she has just been admitted to the Christian Medical College Vellore.
Her family is doing all it can to support her mentally, emotionally and financially, but cancer is deadly and it can bring a family to the brink of bankruptcy. But friends in need are friends indeed and her fellow students and friends from her college, KCDSH , Yelahanka, Bengaluru are out on the streets, looking for support for her treatment which is expected to cost in the range of Rs: 50 Lakhs and includes chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant.
Her friends could be seen strolling the streets on Bengaluru city wearing white aprons and holding donation boxes. They could be seen at M.G. Road , Malleshwaram, Koramangala , Sanjaynagar, Saharkarnagar and the likes and they are immensely grateful to the people of Bengaluru who have contributed and restored their faith in humanity.
Besides walking the streets asking for financial support, they have been contacting NGOs and celebrities but they still have a long way to go and are looking for individuals and organizations who would like to help out.
