Bengaluru: The Bengaluru police have initiated legal action against former Karnataka Chief Minister and senior BJP leader, B S Yediyurappa, under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO). The case stems from allegations of harassment against a minor at Yediyurappa’s residence in the city.
According to the complaint filed by the victim’s mother, she visited Yediyurappa’s residence on February 2 seeking justice in a rape case involving her daughter, urging him to establish a Special Investigation Team (SIT).
The FIR states that Yediyurappa took the child to a room, where he allegedly sexually harassed her before they returned five minutes later. When questioned about his actions, Yediyurappa purportedly claimed to be checking if the girl had been raped. Subsequently, he allegedly apologized and urged the victim’s mother to keep the incident confidential.
The Sadashivanagar police have registered a case under Section 8 (sexual assault) of the POCSO Act and Section 354 (a) (sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) based on the complaint.
