Bengaluru: Former Bengaluru police commissioner Bhaskar Rao suffered severe injuries in a road accident on April 23, during which his SUV rolled over three times, he wrote on his social media account. Rao, a BJP leader, sustained substantial injuries, including multiple fractures to his ribs, vertebrae, and metatarsals.
The accident occurred while Rao was traveling from Anantpur to Kadri in Andhra Pradesh in a Toyota Innova Hybrid Hycross, accompanied by three others. They narrowly avoided a head-on collision with a truck, but it brushed their car, causing their vehicle to overturn multiple times. One of the occupants, Venky, suffered critical injuries and was admitted to the ICU.
Despite Rao’s fractures and trauma, the other two occupants, Kiranna and Babu, escaped with minor injuries. Rao shared details of the incident on social media, along with images of the damaged SUV. Following the accident, the injured were initially taken to a nearby Primary Health Center in Bathpally before being transferred to Anantpur.
Rao highlighted the facilities available at the remote government health center in Bathpally and expressed gratitude to Andhra Pradesh CM for providing excellent healthcare facilities to the local people. He emphasized the presence of essential medical facilities, including three doctors, ECG machines, air conditioning, and a supportive medical team. Rao also praised the ambulance service that transported him to Anantpur and acknowledged the efforts of government leaders in ensuring the center’s effectiveness.
Rao said that because of the seat belt and airbags of the car, they are still alive.
