Bengaluru: A meeting convened by Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa to discuss the proposal of Ballari district bifurcation failed to arrive at any consensus. Instead, the meeting ended with another round of threats and counter-threats.
The meeting was attended by CM BS Yediyurappa, DCM Laxman Savadi, health minister B Sreeramulu and others. Both, Anand Singh and Somashekara Reddy who are leading two separate factions in this issue were also present in the meeting.
According to the sources, Singh urged the CM to take up the district division works immediately. Another MLA Bhima Naik also supported him. While Ballari MLA G Somashekhara Reddy vehemently opposed the move. “At one point Reddy reportedly raised his voice, which irked the CM,” explained sources.
The meeting failed to come to arrive at any consensus. The CM concluded the meeting by saying a final decision will be taken after the by-election.
