Bengaluru: For the first time in the country, the Sparsh hospital of the city will launch Capsule Endoscopy, which will enable doctors to get pictures of the body without any pain to the patient. The tablet will be discharged from the body in the faecal form.

Speaking to the reporters, Dr Sharan Shivaraj Patil of the Sparsh hospital informed that the first experiment of the Capsule Endoscopy will be held on February 10 at the hospital. “In western countries capsule endoscopy is already popular. However, in India this is the first time that the same technology will be used,” he said.

“A mini camera inside the capsule will collect the picture and send it to the computer server. It will help the doctors to understand the complications and start treatment for the symptoms,” he said adding that several other super speciality health services will also be launched at the hospital along with Capsule Endoscopy.

Meanwhile, for the first time, the Sparsh hospital is all set to introduce cadaver hand transplant. “We are waiting for the government permission. Like other organ harvesting, the hands of the brain dead patients too will be harvested and transplanted to the needy. In the country, until now six such transplantation has been done. Sparsh is the first hospital in the state to take up this transplantation,” informed Dr K Anand, plastic surgeon of the hospital.
