New Delhi: Three personnel from the 44 Rashtriya Rifles have been detained for their alleged involvement in abduction and killing of fellow soldier Aurangazeb by militants in June, last year.
As per reports in CNN-News18, the three are facing charges of sharing information about Aurangzeb’s movements, which helped the militants in executing their plans.
Aurangzeb of 44 Rashtriya Rifles was abducted and killed by a terrorist in Pulwama district when he was on the way home for Eid. He was part of Major Rohit Shukla’s team that gunned down Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Sameer Tiger.
A report in Indian Express identifies the three detained personnel as Abid Wani, Tajamul Ahmad and Adil Wani and it is said that while two of the accused are from Phulwama, one hails from Kulgam and all the three are being questioned.
Aurangazeb was conferred Shaurya Chakra posthumously on Independence Day last year and it was only a couple of days ago that his father joined the BJP in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a rally in Jammu.
