Bengaluru: With senior BJP leader K S Eshwarappa leading the rebel brigade of the party, there are all possibilities of BJP State President B S Yeddyurappa putting him on checkmate soon.
As per sources, Eshwarappa may lose the position of Opposition Leader in the Legislative Council as a repercussion to his act of leading the rebels. Either K Somanna or K B Shanappa is likely to get the position.

The BJP corridors are abuzz with talks that since Eshwarappa could not mind his words, he had caused a lot of embarrassment to the party. Even the party top brasses side with BS Yeddyurappa over Eshwarappa because of the fact that the entire party believes that it was Yeddyurappa’s charisma which worked in the party’s favour in Karnataka.

Once BSY parted ways with the party and formed his own political outfit, neither did the BJP flourish nor did BSY. Hence the party made peace with BSY keeping the upcoming Assembly polls, where the BJP wants to snatch away power from the Congress and first move towards this goal was appointment of BSY as State President.

However, this strategy has not gone down well with many within the party including Eshwarappa. Situation turned hostile when Eshwarappa and his supporters alleged BSY of sidelining the prior while appointing members to the party office. The disciplined party had to face further embarrassment when Eshwarappa faction resorted to expressing displeasure openly.

With friends turning into foes and with two houses being formed in the BJP, the outcome is to be waited and watched for.
