Bangalore : Electioneering in the state has gained momentum and political parties are leaving no stone unturned in wooing voters through strategies and counter strategies.
There will be a neck-to-neck fight in several constituencies including Hubli Central where CM Jagadish Shettar is in the fray, Shikaripura, the constituency of former CM Yeddyurappa, Ramnagar of former CM and JD(S) leader HD Kumarswamy, Varuna constituency of Siddaramaiah, senior Congress leader, Koratagere constituency where KPCC Chief G Parameshwar is contesting, Mandya constituency of actor Ambarish, Padmanabhanagar where Deputy CM Ashok is contesting and Shimoga which is seeing the candidature of another Deputy CM Eshwarappa.
Apart from the above, Anitha Kumaraswamy is contesting from Chennapattana, Priyanka Kharge from Chittapura, Ajay Singh, son of former CM Dharam Singh, Rehman Sharief, grandson of former union minister Jaffer Sharief from Hebbala constituency, Madhu Bangarappa from Soraba, Shobha Karandlaje and Suresh Kumar from Rajajinagar among others are in the fray.
There are reports that voters are being wooed with liquor and cash at several places in Nagamangala and Gandhinagar constituencies despite the strict eye of the Election Commission. According to one source at least Rs 10 crore to Rs 50 crores are being spent in each of these constituencies by violating the Election Commission ruling that each candidate can spend upto Rs 16 lakhs.
