Bengaluru: In a shocker for the nine contractors who were named in the BBMP multi-crore civil works scam that rocked Malleshwaram, Gandhinagar and RR Nagar zones of the corporation, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) attached their properties and cash worth crores.

If the BBMP sources are to be believed, then it is for the first time that the ED has attached the properties of the BBMP contractors.

According to the ED sources, these attachments are done based on the CID charge sheet submitted in this case.
“The total value of the properties attached is Rs.5.2 crores. Out of it, Rs 1.83 crores are bank deposits, while the rest of them are land and sites in Bengaluru and Mysuru,” said the ED sources.

This multi-crore scam, which came to light in the year 2012 and continued till 2015 rocked the state politics with both the Congress and the BJP leaders making charges against each other. “But in the scam, no politician or senior officers of the BBMP are named. Only lower rung officers and contractors are named,” added the BBMP sources in the city.
