Bengaluru: Highgrounds police have detained four persons including cine star Duniya Vijay on the charges of abducting a bodybuilder and assaulting him.

According to the Highgrounds police, Vijay and his associates allegedly assaulted Maruti Gowda, a bodybuilder who was participating in a bodybuilding competition in Ambedkar Bhavan of the Vasanth Nagar.

Maruti Gowda is the relative of Panipuri Kitti, a friend-turned-foe of Duniya Vijay. It is said that Vijay teased Maruti during the event leading to a tussle. Following this, Vijay and others took Maruti away and assaulted him.

As the news spread, Panipuri Kitti lodged a complaint with the Highgrounds police station who rescued Maruti.

Police informed that an investigation is on in this regard.
