Drunk executive who crashed BMW into auto finally arrested

Bengaluru: Samrat Chadda, a top sales executive of a private company, who crashed his Delhi-registered BMW car into an autorickshaw was arrested by police on Tuesday, two days after the incident.

Indirinagar police registered a case of reckless driving and also took him away to an undisclosed location for interrogation.

It may be recalled that Chadda, a vice-president (sales) with a reputed firm, was in an inebriated state when he hit an autorickshaw injuring four people seriously late on Saturday night.

The injured were rushed to hospital by passersby. Chaddha, at the Indiranagar police station refused to co-operate with the police for an alcometer test saying he was an influential person in the city.

He went absconding for two days after the incident.

Sources said that he is a habitual offender of such acts especially under influence of alcohol and has been booked under similar cases in other states too.
