Bangalore : Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has tried to assuage the farming community by stating that the Government was with them. “Do not resort to extreme steps like suicide,” he requested the farmers community.
Speaking to reporters at his home office Krishna, he said suicide is no solution to any problem. Directing sugar factory owners to release the arrears to the sugarcane growers, he also warned the erring factories of stern action. The issue pertaining to the Agriculture Price Commission is before the Cabinet Sub-Committee, he said and added that Commission would start functioning once the guidelines are framed.
To a question on the dharna staged by former CM BS Yeddyurappa in the well of the House, the Chief Minister said the House meets to discuss issues and find solution to the same. There is no use in resorting to dharna over personal issues, the CM said. He further added that such moves will not be tolerated by the government.
