Bengaluru: The High Court on Monday rejected a public interest litigation (PIL) petition, which had sought direction to the stage government to set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and probe the reported entries made in diaries allegedly by two political leaders.

Observing that the diary entries cannot be conclusive evidence, and that the matter was being probed by the Income Tax authorities, a Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Subhro Kamal Mukherjee and Justice Budihal R.B. dismissed the petition filed by M. Abdul Hameed, a resident of Bengaluru. The petitioner had sought a probe into the entries found in the diaries allegedly belonging to Congress MLC K. Govindaraju and BJP MLC Lahar Singh Siroya, respectively.
