Bengaluru: Reacting to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders’ allegations that first information reports (FIRs) filed against B.S. Yeddyurappa was a political vendetta, the Congress leaders have produced documents to show that the BJP former Chief Minister D.V. Sadandanda Gowda, who succeeded Yeddyurappa, had ordered a probe into the case in 2012. Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy and V.S. Ugrappa, MLC, released a copy of the order signed by Gowda ordering a CID probe into the alleged illegal denotification of lands.
“However, even before CID could begin probe, Gowda lost power and Jagadish Shettar became the Chief Minister, who instead of a CID probe formed a committee headed by then Additional Chief Secretary Kaushik Mukherjee. Mukherjee was later replaced by Additional Chief Secretary V. Umesh, who submitted his report in 2013 which clearly indicated violation of procedure and illegality,” said Ugrappa.
