Bengaluru: Former super-cop SP H T Sangliana, a prominent Christian face of the Congress party, tendered his resignation to the post of vice-president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) and to the primary membership of the party.
A former MP, Sangliana is the second Christian leader to quit the Congress party in the last three days. Former Chief Secretary J Alexandar too quit the party.
The main allegation of both the leaders is that the Congress denied tickets to the Christian leaders in the Lok Sabha election and it is merely using Christians as vote banks.
Meanwhile, according to sources in the Congress, AICC Karnataka in charge K C Venugopal has already met Alexander and the latter is expected to withdraw his resignation.
“The Congress leadership is trying to convince the Christian leaders,” said a party leader.
