Bengaluru: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Amit Shah on Sunday said the demonetisation move of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given opposition leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mamata Banerjee sleepless nights.
“Friends, people who are hurt are those whose black money has gone for a toss. The demonetisation move has given sleepless nights to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Mamata, Arvind Kejriwal, and also they have lost shine on their faces,” he said, addressing BJP’s Other Backward Class rally held here at Palace Grounds.
Shah also flayed Mamta and Kejriwal for double standards over the issue of black money and corruption. “Friends corruption and black money are inseparable. Till November 7, the opposition parties, BSP, SP and Congress, and also leaders like Mamta, Arvind Kejriwal, were questioning Modiji steps to bring back black money, but after November eight midnight, they changed their tone and started to ask why did he do this (demonetisation),” he said.
Shah said the opposition has joined hands to oppose Narendra Modi’s demonetisation move. “There is a flood-like situation where you find one tree in the middle, on which rat, cat, mongoose and snake have climbed to save themselves from the enraging water, flowing below,” he said.
“Interestingly, the mongoose and the cat is not eating the snake and the rat, they all have joined hands against Modi’s fight against black money and corruption,” he said.
The BJP national president, however, expressed gratitude to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for supporting Modi’s efforts to fight corruption and black money. “I want to express my gratitude to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for supporting Modiji’s fight against black money and corruption,’ he said.
He also alleged that Siddaramaiah government was the most corrupt state in the country and urged the gathering to throw the present government to elect BJP under the chief ministership of B S Yeddyurappa, which would make the state one of the top states in its five-year term.
“I urge the people of Karnataka to root out this Congress government which is the most corrupt states in the country and elect BJP government under the leadership of Yeddyurappa, which would like to make Karnataka one of the best states in the country,” he said.
