Bangalore : Senior JD(S) leader and former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy has tried to defend himself in the cash for MLC seat controversy and said “I have only said the facts and am ready to face  any investigation. I will also not hesitate to go behind bars if I have erred.”

Participating in the debate on the demands of Revenue Department, Kumaraswamy said “MLAs have discussed in the same House that a sub-registrar takes home Rs 10 lakh bribe every day in Bangalore. This means that an officer  makes illegal earnings of Rs 360 crores in a year,” Kumaraswamy said.

“I am ready for any amount of sacrifice to check corruption  and to protect democracy,” he said.

Continuing, Kumaraswamy said ” There are no lakes in Bangalore. Still the government is spending crores every year for development of lake. Hemachandra  Sagar during his tenure as MLA had laid foundation for the development  of Bairasandra  lake and to develop a par. But, there are only three trees there.  A person has also mortgaged the lake land and availed loans from a bank. But as he failed to repay, the Bank had chosen to auction the land. Finally  a case has been registered against  the lender bank and the borrower.  This being the case, where goes the funds for development of lakes?” Kumaraswamy questioned.
